It is with great joy that we welcome you, as you have made the decision to accelerate your results, enrich your knowledge, and expand your network.

Many professionals, with the support of one of the most important universities in the United States, are involved in making this immersion a milestone in your journey of professional and personal transformation.

To ensure you are well-prepared for your trip, we have highlighted the key items that require attention until your arrival in San Diego, where we will be waiting for you:

Passport:

  • Ensure it is valid for at least six months beyond your return date.
  • Make a photocopy of your passport and keep it separate from the original.
  • Scan your passport and email a copy to yourself.

Entry Visa:

  • Check the type of visa required for your trip (usually B1/B2 for tourism/business).
  • Ensure the visa is valid and does not expire before the end of your trip.
  • Bring documentation proving the purpose of your trip.

ESTA:

  • If you are from a Visa Waiver Program country, apply for ESTA authorization at least 72 hours before your trip.
  • Print the ESTA approval confirmation and carry it with you.

Form 6059B Customs Declaration:

  • This form is provided on the flight to the United States.
  • It is a customs document where you must fill in your name, date of birth, passport number, flight number, country of residence, any layovers before arriving in the U.S., address of your stay in the U.S. (you can list the hotel name and city), and the purpose of your trip.

Immersion Documents:

  • Have the confirmation letter of enrollment sent by San Diego State University.
  • If you haven’t received it, contact the organizers as soon as possible.

Airline Ticket:

  • Confirm your reservation and flight times.
  • Check in online as soon as possible.
  • Print your boarding pass or save it on your phone.

Accommodation:

  • Check the location of your dormitory using the QR code on your badge.
  • Verify check-in and check-out times.

Transportation:

  • Download useful apps like Uber or Lyft.

Travel Insurance:

  • Purchase insurance that covers medical emergencies, accidents, lost luggage, and trip cancellations.
  • Print your insurance policy and carry it with you.

Vaccines:

Credit/Debit Cards:

  • Ensure your cards are accepted internationally.
  • Notify your bank of your travel dates and destination to avoid blocks.
  • Bring more than one card for contingencies.

Cash:

  • Carry a reasonable amount of U.S. dollars (suggestion: $200-300 for emergencies).
  • Distribute the cash in different parts of your luggage.

Payment Apps:

  • Install apps like PayPal, Venmo, or other mobile payment services used in the U.S.

Personal Hygiene:

  • Toothbrush, toothpaste, dental floss.
  • Soap, shampoo, conditioner (optional to bring).
  • Razor, shaving cream.
  • Moisturizer, lip balm.
  • Face and bath towels (optional to bring).

Health Items:

  • Sunscreen, insect repellent.
  • Specific hygiene products.
  • Glasses or contact lenses and maintenance items.

Appropriate Clothing:

  • Light clothing for San Diego’s June weather. It may get cooler at night, so a light jacket is recommended.
  • Comfortable clothes and shoes for daily activities.

Accessories:

  • Sunglasses, hat, or cap.
  • Bag or backpack for daily use.

Chargers and Adapters:

  • Chargers for all electronic devices.
  • Plug adapters for U.S. outlets (flat pins).

Cell Phone:

  • Activate an international data plan or buy a local SIM card upon arrival.
  • Install useful apps (maps, translation, transportation, etc.).

Laptop and Tablet:

  • Not required for notes and immersion activities.
  • Bring the charger and a protective case.

Headphones:

  • For the flight and leisure moments.
  • Do not use during classes.

Study Materials:

  • Study materials will be provided by the organizers.

Schedule and Timings:

  • Follow the daily immersion schedule using the QR code on your badge.

Notes:

  • Notebooks and pens for notes will be provided.

Emergency Contacts:

  • Have emergency contact numbers for the U.S. and your home country.
  • Note the phone number of your country’s embassy or consulate in San Diego.

Arrival Notification:

  • Inform family or friends of your safe arrival.

Language:

  • Practice basic English phrases for daily communication.
  • Use translation apps like Google Translate.

Maps and Transportation:

  • Familiarize yourself with local maps and public transportation options (metro, bus).
  • Use map apps like Google Maps.

Culture and Customs:

  • Learn about local customs and social norms in the U.S.
  • Be aware of tipping and service practices.

Document Copies:

  • Keep copies of important documents (passport, visa, insurance) stored separately.
  • Store digital copies in a secure cloud service (Google Drive, Dropbox, etc.).

Useful Apps:

  • Install map apps (Google Maps, Waze).
  • Translation apps (Google Translate).
  • Weather apps (Weather Channel, AccuWeather).
